Small furniture for living rooms, kitchens and hallways
Our furniture is the small, useful kind: coffee and side tables, stools, dining chairs, armchairs, consoles and hallway pieces that finish a room you already live in. We do not sell sofas, beds or wardrobes. The catalogue is short, chosen piece by piece from European workshops and manufacturers, and the first pieces are arriving now.
Our first pieces are on their way. We are choosing them one by one from European workshops and makers. Tell me when they arrive.
Buying guide
How to choose furniture that fits the room
Good furniture is chosen by measurement before style. Take three numbers before you buy: the height of the seat or worktop it will sit beside, the width of the space it has to fill, and the clear path people need to walk past it. A table that is 5 cm too tall or a cabinet 10 cm too deep is the piece you end up walking round every day.
01
Living room tables
A coffee table usually sits at or just below sofa seat height, around 40 to 45 cm, and runs to roughly two thirds of the sofa's length. Leave 40 to 45 cm between the two so knees and mugs both have room. A side table works best within a few centimetres of the arm it stands next to, typically 50 to 60 cm high.
02
Stools, chairs and armchairs
Seat heights follow the surface. A dining chair at 45 to 48 cm suits a standard 75 cm table. Bar stools are measured from the worktop: about 65 cm for a 90 cm kitchen counter and 75 to 80 cm for a 105 to 110 cm bar. An armchair needs its width plus a clear route in, so measure doors and stairs as well as the corner it is going to.
03
Hallway furniture
Many UK hallways are barely a metre wide, so depth matters more than length. A console table of 25 to 35 cm, a slim shoe cabinet and wall hooks leave a walkway of at least 75 cm. A bench about 45 cm high makes boots easier to pull on and hides a few pairs underneath.
04
Materials and care
Solid wood can be sanded and refinished when it is scratched. Veneer and lacquer are harder to repair but shrug off rings and spills. Metal frames are light and stable, while marble and stone tops want a coaster under every glass. Felt pads under the feet protect wooden floors when furniture is moved. Check the dimensions and weight on the product page before ordering: they decide whether a piece of furniture really works in your home.
