Full length mirrors for bedrooms and hallways

A full length mirror lets you see an outfit from shoes to collar before you leave the house. It can lean against a bedroom wall, stand on its own frame in a dressing area or hang in a hallway. Height, width and how it is secured matter more than the frame.

Our first pieces are on their way. We are choosing them one by one from European workshops and makers. Tell me when they arrive.

Buying guide

How to choose a tall mirror

Most tall mirrors sold in the UK measure between 150 and 180 cm. That range covers nearly everyone, but the right size depends on where you stand to use it.

01

How tall does it need to be?

A flat mirror only needs to be half your height to show your whole body, as long as it hangs at the right level. In practice, a taller glass is more forgiving: you can step back, check a coat or the fall of a pair of trousers, and not worry about the exact angle.

02

Leaning, freestanding or wall-hung

A leaner rests against the wall at a slight angle and is the easiest to move. A freestanding floor mirror has its own stand or easel back and can tilt, which suits a dressing corner away from the wall. A wall-hung one saves floor space in a narrow hallway.

03

Keeping it safe

A leaning mirror should always be tied back to the wall with an anti-tip strap or bracket, especially in a home with children or pets. Set the base on felt pads or the edge of a rug so it cannot slide on wooden floors.

04

Width and frame

A width of 40 to 60 cm shows your shoulders comfortably. Thin black or brass frames keep the look light; wide oak frames and arched tops turn the piece into furniture.

Frequently asked questions

How tall should a full length mirror be?

Half your height is the minimum to see your whole body, but 150 to 180 cm is easier to use and suits most people.

Is a leaning mirror safe?

Yes, if it is secured to the wall with an anti-tip strap or bracket and the base cannot slide. Never leave a tall leaner unsecured in a child's room.

Where should a tall mirror go in a bedroom?

Near the wardrobe and, if possible, facing a window, so daylight falls on you rather than behind you.

Can I return a mirror if it does not suit the room?

Yes. You have 14 days after delivery to change your mind, and glass that arrives broken is replaced if you send a photo within 48 hours.
